YO!!!

Im tired of seeing less dancing.. and more showing off? They shouldn't even call it bboying.. It should be called showcasing!!! Why every time i see a "BBOY" toprocking it looks choreographed?? Is it me or this art form witch we love is going down the drain because our future bboys.. Look more forward to bcone then just breaking to good music.. We all need to wake up from this fake reality and rememeber why we do it in the first place...

  2. i can get that vibe a lot in the recent jams i went to. Of course, if i didnt have guidance from one of the OGs i probably woulda gotten down the wrong path as well. Because benny ben pointed out the same thing you did in this post, my friend and I become very aware of these kind of stuff. I always wonder how did bboy "evolve" into what it is today. very few jams now even have the same type of energy as the bboys would back in the days.

  3. energy drink companies only undermines the true spirit of hip-hop, which is unity amongst tribe. you see it is easier to corrupt and use the singular individual, compared to the whole crew. Corporate influence only seeks to destroy the true and real culture of bboying. Beware of bboys who succumb to their will for they no longer stand for real hip-hop, but for corporate mission. This is not new, it happened in the 80's, but now, it is happening on a more global scale. at the end of the day, a true bboy stays up on whats really going on, which means understanding how the culture is being molded and most importantly, why... Bboying represents truth, and these corporations and their supporters represent lies and evil. In order to avoid a suit telling us how what the format of our jams will be, we need to organize on our own, stay involved in your community, and support local and idependent hip-hop.

  4. Casper,

You are a huge inspiration. I completely agree. So many people come out to battles and throw a bit of power and throw some tricking in and call it bboying. The art of top rock and even floor work is going by the wayside because it's not "flashy" enough. Cameras don't like it. The big media don't have the patience or understanding of the art form. It's nice to see a bboy with the spotlight on him put this out to the public. Respect.

    Shout out to Philly.

Keep inspiring us all Casper. Thank you.

  5. Hey Casper,

Here is my view on what u have posted:

    1. showing off is indeed not good, but remember the essence of a battle is to prove that you are better than the other guy, through dance.
    2. toprock may look choreographed but that means the bboy/bgirl still has to work on it and yeah, they should be aware of this.
    3. i see nothing wrong in wanting to take part in bcone. The event has respectable bboys, and dj that contributed so much to this game, and it also offers a bboy/bgirl to get out there and make a living out of what they love. i am sure you understand that food and shelter dont come cheap.

the way i see it, all the big names in the bboy scene right now understand the culture, know about hip hop history, the essence of this art form. The problem is that the media doesnt know, and this is all our fault. Someone should introduce them to the real hip hop or maybe it should stay an underground thing...let me know what u think

    Alin Alecu, i'm a bboy
    peace
